What’s wrong with my husband’s semen getting less and less?

A man’s semen consists mainly of sperm and seminal plasma. When ejaculating, seminal vesicle fluid, prostate fluid, urethral bulb gland fluid and sperm are mixed together and collectively referred to as semen.

The amount of semen is a key indicator of male sexual function. Generally speaking, the amount of semen discharged by a normal male per ejaculation is 3-5 ml. If no semen is discharged for several days, but the amount of semen discharged is less than 1.5 ml, it means that the amount of ejaculate is insufficient and can be regarded as hypospermia.

What is wrong with men’s semen getting less and less?

In fact, the amount of semen in a man is related to the frequency of sexual intercourse, the length of time, the strength of sexual excitement, mental state, physical quality and other factors.

For example, if a man has a more frequent sex life, the amount of ejaculate will have a tendency to gradually decrease, this is a physiological phenomenon, as long as the frequency of sexual intercourse is adjusted, the amount of semen will be restored.

In addition, as men grow older and reach middle age, erectile function will gradually decline, sexual excitement will become weaker, and the quality and quantity of ejaculate will be reduced accordingly.

If a man is in his twenties or thirties and has less sperm for no reason, he should be alert to whether he is suffering from hypogonadal skills, diabetes, prostate hypertrophy and other diseases.

Due to the diverse causes of oligospermia in men, it is recommended that patients take a comprehensive approach, go to the hospital for a physical examination to clarify the cause and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

An important indicator to determine whether a man can have children is semen examination, which mainly includes semen volume, degree of semen liquefaction, viscosity, sperm density, sperm viability, motility, sperm survivability, sperm morphology, etc.

In fact, a decrease in sperm or low semen volume only means that male fertility is reduced, that is, the chances of a woman getting pregnant naturally through sexual intercourse are reduced, it does not mean that she cannot have children.

Nowadays, with the development of modern medical assisted reproduction technology, patients with severe oligospermia actually have the hope of conceiving a child, as long as they can find a few normal live sperm, they can usually realize the dream of becoming a father.
